Types of a Copy Tax Return

Tax Return Forms

Everybody hates when tax season comes around because they do not want to file and copy tax returns. Luckily, there are a few different tax return forms that you can use. Depending on how much money you have made and how you wish to file your taxes, it may not be as hard as you thought. The first thing you will need to do is familiarize yourself with the different tax return forms. The first one is called the 1040 EZ, the second is the 1040A and finally there is the standard 1040 form. The easiest to use is the 1040 EZ, however not everyone will be able to use this form. Look at the various requirements for each form and see which one is best for you.

The 1040 EZ

The 1040 EZ is the most simple and basic copy tax return form that is available from the IRS. This is because the information needed to fill it out is quite basic. You will need to know your social security number and your basic income information. It is a simple one page form and the information that is asked is straight forward and easy to decipher. Simply take the information and fill it into the space provided. People who use this type of form are those who are single, or married filing together with no children. If there are children, then this form shouldn’t be used. The other requirement for this copy tax return is that the person or couple filing the form makes fewer than 100,000 dollars per year.

The 1040 A

The next step up from the 1040 EZ is called the 1040 A tax form. This form allows for the filing of more complex copy tax returns. Because of that, there is more information on this form that needs to be filled out. The good news is that it is still relatively simple to fill out and use. The questions are petty straight forward and the spaces to enter the information are easily recognizable. What this form does is allow you to take advantage of certain tax credits that may be available. Things that you can claim on this form include standard wages, and interest or dividends that may have been earned in the year, unemployment income and any retirement benefits that may have been received. As with the EZ, you must make fewer than 100,000 dollars to file this copy tax return form.

The standard 1040

If you have several things that you need to file on your copy tax return, then you will need to choose the form 1040. This is the most complex tax return form that is available from the IRS for filing your personal income taxes. This makes it a little more complicated than the other forms. The good thing about this form is that you can make any kind of claim that you may need and this will help you to save the most money on your income taxes. All of your possible deductions will be itemized on this form. If you are self employed, then it is almost guaranteed that you will need to use this form. If you are a member of a partnership then you will use this form as well. If you employ a household worker or receive income from a business that is in another country then you will be able to handle these sorts of things with this form. No matter which form you choose to use for your income taxes you will need to make a copy tax return for your records.
